Just a community dedicated to the fact that we as Jews have not been fooled into thinking that the Bush administration and the Republican party have the Jewish communities best interests in mind. We understand and remember that the success of the Jewish people in the United States is partially by the support of the Democratic party.
We understand that the spiritual truth we find inherent in our religion is most congruent with a progressive and liberal social philosophy.
We support unequivically, Israel's right to exist and protect herself through reasonable measures. However we maintain that Israel's actions, as a sovereign and Democratic nation must be becoming of a civilized 'global' state. We also maintain that criticism of the government of our spiritual homeland is a healthy excercise in political and religious discourse and not synonomous with self-hatred.
But most importantly we recognize the stranglehold that the ultra-zealous Christian right has on the Republican party and as such see the harm that control of the US in their hands poses towards us and all other free-thinking religous and secular groups.
All are welcome to join but please be respectful, dignified etc. And no anti-semetism or racism of any sort. Come on folks, you all know the drill by now I'm sure.
And just in case there was any question (like from our misguided brothers and sisters over at jewish_gop) as to our peoples political allegiances...
